In the heart of O'Dea High School in Seattle, I sat down with Simon Olech, the school chaplain, amidst symbols of spirituality in his divine humble abode. Olech, a beacon of faith for the O'Dea community, revealed the core of his role and journey.
Faith and Service Leadership
Being the school chaplain, according to Olech, means leading by example—setting the best standards for fellow students to follow, guiding them toward a spiritually fulfilled life through both prayer and actions.
Sharing God's Love
Olech sought the role driven by deep Catholic faith and personal experiences. "God has guided me, and I want to share that love, leading others to Him," he emphasized.
A Student Leader's Path
Starting with a simple application in his sophomore year, Olech spoke with Mr. Odem, the campus minister. Mentored into a leader, he applied again his junior year, becoming a part of O'Dea's history.
Shaping Spiritual Leaders
Olech's journey unfolds as a commitment to nurturing spiritual leaders. His story is a testament to the transformative role a school chaplain plays at O'Dea High School in Seattle, going beyond rituals to inspire a community grounded in faith and service.
