Seattle – Seku Sanders, who is the best runner on the O’Dea cross-country team looks to finish strong in his final season at O’Dea, he must deal with plenty of top runners especially as he is the only one who qualified for state at O’Dea.
Sanders has been the best runner for O’Dea since his first year as he has seamlessly taken over the legacy that Zach Berta left behind.
This season Seku has been able to stay healthy and help the O’Dea cross country team finish with good scores and the end of their meets.
Seku said, "Get as high of a position as I can get to minimize our team's score."
Without Seku O’Dea would not have been where they were in metros this year.
With the cross-country season over and Seku being the only runner to qualify for state, he is going into this country with a full head of steam.
Seku Stated "Do whatever I can do individually to help my team get to state as a whole."
This mindset helped Seku battle through fierce competition like Ballard, Lincoln, and Seattle Prep who have very strong runners and many runners competing in state.
Seku said, "I will try and beat preps fifth runner to help my future in the race.”
If Seku can accomplish these goals he will have been the favorite to win state.
Before the competitions begin Seku has been working hard this offseason and looks not to quit and stay on that grind.
Seku stated, "I’ve been building my confidence."
If what Seku says is true, then he will be a force to be reckoned with because he is unstoppable with a mind full of confidence.
Finally, this is the third time Seku has gone to state, and he has gotten super close to winning but is always just that couple minutes too short to qualify for the races.
But with all the work he has put in with his confidence, endurance, and much more he looks to take it all home for O’Dea.
