SEATTLE- This season O’Dea’s defense has been shutting down strong offenses. Senior Captain Kyan McDonald and the defensive line have been key parts of their defense. Against rival Eastside Catholic, McDonald had one interception and a couple tackles one in a big fourth and short play.

O’Dea moved up to #3rd In the state after their 16-7 win vs #10 Eastside Catholic who they have not beaten since 2019

Over the course of the 2023 fall season for O’Dea, they have allowed 52 total points which leads the 3A division.

The defensive line had four sacks, seven tackles for loss, and one interception.

McDonald said, “The defense during the offseason has been putting in that work to get stronger and combine as a team to play at their best.”

McDonald was the one who picked off the Eastside quarterback and deflated all the momentum for Eastside Catholic after they recently converted on a huge third down.

McDonald stated, “It wouldn’t have mattered if we lost because the only goal is to win the state championship”.

Paki Crawford picked up a sack and 2 tackles for loss. He had to leave the game early in the 3rd quarter, but still had an impact forcing Eastside to give the ball up multiple times.

O’Dea’s defensive coordinator Mr. Yeilding must have been studying Eastside's offense since all the latest matchups between the two. In those games, O’Dea has allowed 35+ points which is surprising because they are always so dominant versus other teams in the 3A Division.

O’Dea’s defensive line has not been that hot at the start of the season, but they will hopefully take this momentum into week 5 versus Lincoln.

O’Dea starts the season off hot as they look to advance to 4-0-0 as they prepare to face Lincoln Highschool who are 0-4-0. They are predicted to blow them out but if they can hold a shutout that will definitely boost their confidence before they face Garfield who has a solid offense and defense.
