SEATTLE- O’Dea’s golf season has started off slow with a record of 1-2-1. Junior golfer Matthew Livingston is shooting under 40 on average and was a huge part of their one win this season. He looks to continue staying hot by working on his game.

O’Dea has been losing lots of games by a couple of points, mainly because they are not finishing strong.

Livingston stated, “Mostly putting, the whole team as well.”

The greens that they play at were airified and it makes putting so much harder on them and they are hoping to persevere through it to help qualify.

Putting is the reason why they have been losing games by small margins and Livingston knows himself and the team need to work on their green game.

Mostly every match they have played they have lost by 1 point.

Livingston has been playing golf for O’Dea since his freshman year. His working under the wings of so many good golfers O’Dea has helped him develop his game.

Livingston is getting lots of playing time this season after being in development for his Freshman and Sophomore year. And now that he is in rotation, he has been a beast.

Livingston's career started when he was three years old and has played for a club team for most of his time as a golfer.

Livingston said, “I have been playing golf for O’Dea since freshman year and have been swinging golf clubs since I was three years old.”

With the golf season ending in less than a month and a half, they must stay strong and get everyone under 40 so they can even make it out of the metros and into the state in May.

Livingston said, “Me, Patrick [Mahar], Carter [Gribble]. Need to be shooting under 40 to even qualify for metros.

These 3 players are the best players on the team. Patrick, Matthew, and Carter need to perform to the best of their abilities so they can give O’Dea a shot to win it all.

Because O’Dea is starting slow and has a 1-2-1 record it does not help them have any chance to qualify. Now with a lot of golfers qualifying for the state last season, right now no one would qualify.

Matthew Livingston hopes to lead the golf team to a state championship and a metro championship. The golf team looks to shoot under 40 for the rest of the season.
