SEATTLE - O'Dea senior running back Jason Brown makes every carry count against Bishop Blanchet on Friday, ending the night 51-21.
Brown scored 4 touchdowns on only 9 ball touches with 210 yards to add to a 30-point win for O'Dea.
O’Dea’s ground game killed Blanchet’s defense with a total six touchdowns. Senior running back for O’Dea Christian Winn had the most carries on the team with 10, totaling 95 yards and two touchdowns.
The Irish came out firing, going up 21 to 0 in the first quarter, making their presence on the field known.
O'Dea junior lineman King Allah says, "It set off the spark for the team."
Senior Irish quarterback Antone Araujo led the team through the air, completing 5 out of 10 passing attempts with a total of 105 yards. Araujo and the O'Dea receivers were able to get the offense in range for easy runs into the end zone.
O'Dea senior football player Rollis Talalemotu states, "The guys did their jobs."
The Blanchet Bears tried to claw back in the second half when they scored two of their three touchdowns.
The Bears took advantage of O’Dea’s defensive mistakes, capitalizing when they could to make a dent in O’Dea’s lead.
Allah remarks that it was “a mental struggle on where everyone was at the time.”
Even with the Bears pushing hard in the second half, O’Dea held tight to their lead and didn’t let go, securing another win under their belts at the start of the season.
Next Friday O’Dea will battle against Rainier Beach High School at 5pm. O’Dea hopes to continue their winning streak against the 0-2 Vikings.
Every inch will count against the Vikings phyical team O’Dea will have to hold strong throughout the game if they want to come out on top.
