O’Dea Baseball Off to Historic Start

SEATTLE- The Fighting Irish baseball team is on fire right now. They are currently 12-1 and looking forward to keep winning games. They were previously undefeated but came up just short this last Saturday against Lakeside 7-6.

The Irish have been nothing but business over their first 13 games. Last season they did not start the season well at all. This team is full of senior leadership. They have 14 seniors that are leading the team.

The chemistry is also off the charts with this team.

Senior Pitcher Patrick Galvin said, “We have a lot of chemistry. We spent all offseason doing team events every week to get us all on the same page.”

The Irish baseball team has found so much success early on. Last season they struggled hitting wise. Right now, the Irish have 11 players that are hitting over .300 and have a team average of .360. If they keep this up, they can win a state championship.

They have been led by Senior Isaiah Nolan and Junior Briggs Ellis on the offensive side. Nolan is having an outstanding year and is leading the Metro League in Avg. Briggs Ellis is right behind him. He's having an outstanding season and is hitting .480 and has been a force on the offensive side.

Senior Vaughn Lowe says, “This team has the ability to have fun and handle business. Baseball is a mental game and being able to find a balance of having fun and working hard is something not a lot of teams can accomplish.”

The Irish have been dominating on the offensive side but they have also been excellent on the pitching side. Junior Quincy Brown has been making it look easy out there. He has under a 1.00 ERA and already has thrown a no hitter this year.

Senior Basil Hendrix has also been a factor for the Irish. Having a one two punch in Brown and Basil makes this team so deep.

Senior Patrick Galvin has only given up one run this whole season. He has the lowest ERA in the metro league with an outstanding .429 ERA. Having Galvin has a go to bullpen guy makes this team even deeper.

The Irish have two big games this week against Eastside Catholic. They have 7 more regular season games and look to make a strong playoff push with the players they have.
