Winter Sports Recap

Seattle- From the roar of the crowd to the clash of titans on the mat, the high school wrestling season delivered a rollercoaster of triumphs and challenges. Let's dive into the highlights that defined this unforgettable journey. We will look into the results of the regular season, postseason, awards, stats, and setbacks.

Wrestling had yet another stunning season and saw multiple wrestlers qualify for state competitions.

The wrestling team started their season at the “Return of the Seahawk tournament" and they went off winning it and starting off the season right.

They played against other schools before reaching the Lake WA Dual Tournament, where some wrestlers did well, while some did not perform as expected.

The next tournaments they participated in were the Let it Fly tournament and the Wolverine Scuffle tournament before the season ended, and they performed well in those.

The team finished with a 6-1 record and fell just shy of winning the team metro championships.

Lots of wrestlers went to metro and regionals, but a small batch went to state.

Most notably, Chris Ceja stepped up to the big role. With elite wrestler Peter Pauly out from an injury during football season, he had to step up.

Ceja knew that this was his time and he took full advantage, having his best season yet.

Chris was so close to getting his first state title but fell just a few points short. Nonetheless, he by far had the most success of any wrestler on the team.

Ceja was the team MVP this year and finished off his senior year strong.

The loss of Peter Pauly was tough as he is one of the best wrestlers in the state and his shoulder injury set him back.

Pauly has not been able to wrestle for O’Dea yet as a junior because of his injuries in football.

When Pauly is healthy, he is one of the best on the team and proves that on the stat sheet, and when he returns, he is coming back for vengeance.

The Wrestling team looks to come back stronger and hopes to have some new blood to help bring a state title home next year, and the possibility of Pauly coming back will increase that chance.
