King Allah’s quest for a State Title

SEATTLE- King Allah. A starting linebacker for O’Dea’s Football team, has been dreaming of winning a state title since he was a freshman. He hopes he can help lead the Irish to a state title this year through his play and leadership.

O’Dea has been of the best and most consistent High school football programs in Seattle for decades. They are always making the playoffs and have a history of winning championships. But it has been nearly a decade since they last raised a state championship trophy. They have had playoff heartbreaks year after year, but Allah thinks this year’s O’Dea Football team can change that.

“We’re more as a team then we were last year, we had a lot of skill, but I don’t think we were as close as a team. Were more together now and thinks that what makes a great team because teams are player led and not coach led. I think that just changes our mindset of the game and how we do stuff.”

Allah plays a huge role in bringing the team more together as he is a senior now and a leader of the football team. I asked Allah what he thinks he and other leaders on the team must do to help lead this team to a championship.

“I think it’s the hard work aspect during practice because the saying goes “Practice how you play” and I think If we practice how we play then I don’t think the game will be much different from practice because we will just playing as hard.”

This helps influence other players to follow as Allah is a player look up to so by doing this, he can set a positive example to his teammates. Allah hopes to be that mentor to other players like his older brother “Khalil Holiday” who also played Football at O’Dea (Class of 2022).

“My brother used to go here. Definitely an inspiration. I looked up to him when I came here as a freshman. I saw all the good work he did.”

It is hard to win a State Title, but Allah knows what it takes and is determined to accomplish this goal of his, not just for him but for his teammates who he considers brothers.

You can watch Allah play during any O’Dea football game as he is a starting linebacker.
