Isaiah Nolan is a 4-year Varsity baseball player for O'Dea now making the choice to step up for his first year in House leadership. Isaiah Is a short stop and lead hitter for the O'Dea Irish and has made quite a name for himself getting some D1 offers, but he has decided to step up this year and lead his mentor group.
Isaiah leads Dr. Cesario's mentor group, part of Limerick House. He said he felt compelled to step up this year: "I want to be involved and be able to use my leadership skills. With being an athlete I want to show other athletes that you have influence on others and can use it in a good way." He's also been enjoying it so far, saying, "I really like being able to lead my mentor group and represent Limerick House."
With being a star athlete, you have to learn how to time manage, and Isaiah seems to be handling the extra work quite well. "I can manage my time well and it hasn’t ever got in the way," he said. This shows that as an athlete you shouldn't feel that you can't balance sports and extracurricular activities.
With stepping up to this new role, he has some new ideas going into the year. His plan "is for everyone to become comfortable with each other," he said. "I want all the grades to mix in and become brothers. I also want us to succeed in house games." The House games consist of competition between mentor groups in games such as football, basketball and volleyball.
With being an athlete and now being in this leadership role he "recommends leadership to athletes because a lot of people look up to you especially being an upperclassman. If other kids see you getting involved, it makes them want too as well." Isaiah is a great example of a student athlete to everyone in the school and adds life the halls and classrooms of O'Dea.
