SEATTLE-On Friday December 8th the O’Dea Fighting Irish went up North to face off the Inghram Rams in a swim meet at Helene Maddison pool. The Irish took the sufficient win almost having double the Rams points winning 116 to the Rams 64 points.

The Irish had a lot of their upperclassmen gone with a couple of underclassmen gone as well.

State champion Jack Skarta and Shea Skarta both were absent from this meet, because they were swimming at Junior Nationals swim meet for their club team SMAC (Seattle Metropolitan Swim Club).

First year swimmer Carter Gribble speaks on his first meet with the team even though he could not swim. “I haven't been to a meet in close to 8 years, it was a nice experience seeing what High School swimming is like since the only meets I've been to was when it was Summer league.”

Freshmen Torsetn Schenck had to step up in this meet in the meadly with his breaststroke in the meadly relay with both Skartas gone. Torsten, who has been swimming with Coach Schutte since he was little at Klehia swim club in Edmonds.

Torsten has been under coach Schutte's wing for a while, and it is now his time to blossom under Schutte's soil for his high school team.

Gribble was ineligible for the meet since he joined the team late and does not have enough practice to be eligible, he is itching to be on the blocks. “Watching all the guy's swim and us winning every event, you know I just got me in to a mood to want to be in the water, I haven't felt that feeling in a while, I’m excited for the next meet.”

Sophomore August Perice who was a state placer last year in the 100 backstroke swam in his first meet of the year won every single of his events by a good measure, he swam the 50 and 100 free, as well as both relays. In the meadly Pierce swam fly and gave the Irish a half-length lead which led to be the winning leg of the race.

The Irish take on Lakeside Lions next Friday who won Metro last year, the Irish are looking to get back at the Lions for last year, this will be the Irishs most competitive meet of the year.
