SEATTLE—The O’Dea basketball team, led by senior Breylon Webb and junior Brian Webster, will look to avenge the heartbreak of being bounced from the playoffs in the state championship and semi-final rounds the last two seasons.
The road will only get tougher from here as the regular season came to a close last week. “Our mindset is to take games one at a time and not look too many games into the future. Focus on the now,” said Webb.
The competition for the crown only intensifies with the start of the state playoffs, which begin on February 25th at the Tacoma Dome. The top teams to look out for will be Rainer Beach, Garfield, Bellevue, Edmonds Woodway, and Eastside Catholic, the defending champions.
The Irish will look to start their postseason campaign strong as the two-seed in the Metro League tournament.
“The team needs to stay focused on what matters, and not outside noise,” said Webb.
To return to the Promise Land, O’Dea will need to defeat their rivals, Garfield, to advance to the Metro League final, where either Seattle Prep or Rainer Beach will be waiting.
O’Dea plays next against Bishop Blanchet High School on February15th at 3pm in the O’Dea gym.
