SEATTLE- Last Friday, the Fighting Irish football team destroyed Bishop Blanchet in a blowout at Bishop Blanchet High School, with another standout performance from 4-star running back Jason Brown. Brown had 210 yards and four touchdowns on nine carries. Sage Salopek helped out, as well, with his first Interception of the season.

O’Dea left the first quarter with a lead of 30-0, with 2 of the touchdowns coming from Jason Brown. One of the touchdowns was a 56-yard rushing touchdown, which sparked the offense to put up another 23 points.

After their game against the Union Titans, Coach Kohler was upset that they were super slow. So, Coach Kohler talked all week and helped them prepare for the game.

Junior King Allah said, “I feel like that set off the spark for the team.”

Brown has been so dominant to start the season. He put up over 300 rushing yards and six touchdowns. In a span of 2 games, he is also putting in work on defense.

Brown not only plays running back but also strong safety He can read almost every play and stuff the run. So, he is scoring touchdowns but also preventing them and helping the Irish win in blowouts.

Also on the defense is junior Salopek who picked up his first interception of the season. He is a very underrated cornerback and is a ball hawk. If an opposing quarterback throws it too close to him, they will be punished.

He sees the game so much more differently. He can read the way his opponent is going and stuff them. He can lurk well in zone coverage, also. He is just all-around a defensive menace.

Another part of his game that is not talked about is his speed. He is the fastest player on the team. He qualified for state last year in track and runs almost at a 4.4 40-yard dash.

Senior Rollis Talalemotu said, "The guys did their jobs exactly."

And didn’t Sage Salopek do that exactly? Hopefully, he can build on this stellar performance and take that momentum into this week's game.

This Friday the Irish take on Rainier Beach at Memorial Stadium at 5:00 p.m. As we see, the Irish try to extend to 3-0 and the Vikings try to seek their first win of the season.
