As we edge through the middle of the school year, both sophomores and juniors get to decide their path for next year. Last week, sophomores and juniors were invited to hear short presentations given by the teachers on each of the electives offered here at O’Dea.
With the addition of options for our curriculum, it gives us students the opportunity to be excited about the next day of school.
The new classes coming to session during the 2024-2025 school year would be Leadership and Theory Practice, Creative Writing, Business Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Digital Media Arts, Ethnic Studies, and Modern-Day Conflict. They join a list that includes such recent additions as Sports Journalism, Environment & Food Science, and Cybersecurity.
These electives are especially for those sophomores who have struggled through difficult courses. For example, some students can continue taking a language or science class, or they can move onto a new elective such as intro into engineering, studio art, finance, or others. Overall, there are lots of great options for students to explore their interests.
