Hutton Leverett is a sophomore, class of 2026. he plays football and baseball for O’Dea. Hutton also enjoys wake surfing and skiing. He chose O’Dea, despite not knowing anyone, because he wanted to be part of the O’Dea brotherhood that he had heard so much about. Hutton also liked the emphasis on athletics and the structure, the respect and the accountability that is demanded of each of us. He also knew this would make him a better person.
Hutton wanted to become a mentor group captain because it was an opportunity to start serving in a leadership role at O’Dea. The idea of a mentor group captain interested him because he really enjoys the activities, projects and service that we do within the group, and he felt that he could help enhance and introduce new ideas.
Hutton knew he wanted to be a leader at an early age, basically when he started playing sports. He played positions like quarterback, shortstop and catcher in football and baseball. All of these positions required him to lead the team in various ways. Hutton took those leadership qualities and translated them into other leadership opportunities in school and his community.
Hutton is motivated by competition and the will to win; he doesn't like to fail. But he also doesn’t fear failure because Hutton understands that failure provides some of the best life lessons. Failing is not permanent as long as you learn from your mistakes and keep pursuing your goals. This attitude keeps him motivated and excited to take on new risks and opportunities so he can continue to grow and find success.
Hutton's character has been shaped by his faith and family. Growing up his parents instilled in him that the number one priority is your character. It doesn’t matter what you do on the field or in the classroom, you will be judged by your character and the man you become. The values that were instilled in Hutton, like integrity, honesty, kindness and respect were rooted in his faith and reinforced at home. Hutton also have two older sisters that keeps him in line and reinforced these values through their actions.
