The O’Dea Fighting Irish are back under the bright lights as they will be facing the Mount Tahoma T-Birds in the quarterfinals at Memorial Stadium this Friday at 7pm. The Irish hope to extend their season and keep their championship hopes alive but they will be facing a red hot 7-4 T-Birds team who has won 6 straight after starting the season 1-4. The Irish are feeling good after coming off a 50-7 win over Mercer Island last Friday. Despite winning each game by an average of 37.3 points, the Irish know they cannot overlook any opponent, especially a team that has been catching fire like the T birds.
“We just got to get on these guys from the jump, both sides of the line need to be dominant so our skills can strive Friday night,” the all-Metro guard Gobi Goodson stated.
A key element for the Irish this game will be trying to shut down Mount Tahoma’s junior QB Mikkah Cordero, who is currently throwing for 121 yards a game with a QB rating of 88.4. Cordero has been on fire as he has 11 touchdowns and only 1 interception since the T-birds started their current 6 game winning streak. The Irish also know they need to keep their offense rolling, which currently is averaging 44.9 points per game.
“We need to be able to have long offensive drives and on defense. We need to have three and outs to get the offense back on the field.” Starting Offensive linemen Jonah Martin stated.

The Irish are ready for battle on Friday night as they know everything they have worked for this season is on the line tonight. The pressure of winning the title keeps rising week by week but the Irish know they have the tools to win each week and get it done. A victory over Mount Tahoma on Friday is another step closer to the Championship game and ending the State title drought.
