O’Dea football has gotten off to a hot start to the season going 5-0 (league 4-0). The Irish have been firing on all cylinders since the first kickoff versus Union. One of the main parts of this success is coach Monte Kohler's offense, as well as Jason Brown leading the charge with scoring at least two touchdowns per game. Another big part is Antone Araujo filling in the shoes of normal QB1 Luke Danna. Araujo has had an 87.4% completion percentage throughout week 4.

Throughout this year so far the Irish outscored all their opponents by a combined 196-52, the defense helps with that a lot but there is no doubt that no team is stopping this Irish offense. All games this season were in prep for this past week's game against Eastside Catholic who held the number one spot in the state rankings before the Irish dethroned them with a 16-7 win.

No doubt this game was centered on the defensive side of the ball but without two surges of offense lead by Jason Brown with two touchdowns leading the offense to win the biggest game of the year so far.

Irish starting center Finn Greenan elaborated on the Irish's biggest win of the year this past Friday against Eastside.

“Going into the game we knew a lot of the same guys from last year.” This helped the Irish big guys because as everyone saw the game was won in the trenches.

In the week before Irish All-American Brown broke an Irish record by rushing for 339 yards up against Seattle Prep. He broke the 20-year record held class of 2004 Mike Rittman; Brown also broke the record in 13 carries compared to the 35 carries it took Rittman.

Greenan also spoke about always having a super strong run game.

“We always say we don’t have to give them much.”

The Irish always have had a strong run game with big names like Miles Gaskin coming out of O’Dea in past years.

Everyone is excited for the Irish's finish to the season, and the whole O’Dea community are waiting eagerly for the state championship to come back home.
