In the busy halls of O'Dea High School, where every corner you can find a pursuit of knowledge or sports, there's a special spot for aspiring engineers. Room 212 isn't just a classroom; it's a launchpad for students diving deep into the world of engineering, all under the watchful eye of Mrs. Unruh. Here, creativity

soars, and innovation finds its home.

At O'Dea High School, Mrs. Unruh leads the charge in the engineering courses, inviting juniors and seniors to explore the realms of design, problem-solving, and hands-on learning. Starting amidst the chaos of 2020's pandemic, these classes aren't just about breaking away from screens; they're about nurturing students' love for engineering through the Engineering Design Process (EDP). Mrs. Unruh is the guiding force, lighting the way to possibilities, including competitions like the ASCE YMF Bridge Competition.

In the heart of O'Dea High School, tucked away in room 212, a group of eager students gathers, eager to embark on an adventure of innovation and discovery with Mrs. Unruh at the helm. But this isn't your typical classroom affair. It's a journey through the fascinating world of engineering, where theories meet practical applications, and problems are solved with a dash of creativity.

The story of these classes begins in 2020, a year marked by uncertainty. Mrs. Unruh laid the groundwork for what would become our introduction to engineering. She recognized the need for a space where students could explore beyond the confines of traditional learning. Thus, the Engineering Design Process (EDP) became our guide - a roadmap for researching, planning, testing, and tweaking our ideas until they soared.

What makes these classes stand out is their hands-on approach. Forget the computers that we use every day; in room 212, we're all about rolling up our sleeves and getting hands on experience. Whether we're constructing bridges or dreaming up prototypes, every project is a chance to flex our creative muscles and work together as a team.

As the program gained traction, Mrs. Unruh introduced the Advanced Engineering class. With a smaller class size, this advanced course dives deeper into specialized areas, preparing us for the challenges ahead. But it's not just about mastering technical skills; it's about embracing a mindset of innovation and collaboration.

For Mrs. Unruh, the ASCE YMF Bridge Competition was always on the horizon. It's not just about winning; it's about giving us a chance to shine, to connect with industry pros, and to gain experience that'll serve us well in the future.

As the day winds down at O'Dea High School, room 212 remains a beacon of inspiration. Under Mrs. Unruh's guidance, we're sowing the seeds of innovation, dreaming big, and daring to push the boundaries of what's possible.
