"Cross country has made me stronger mentally,"


he shares, emphasizing the therapeutic role running plays in clearing his mind. Managing the relentless demands of schoolwork alongside the commitment to his sport presents challenges, but Sanders finds motivation in his goal to run in college.

"The support I receive and what is 'expected' of me also motivates me to always go one step further,"


he acknowledges. Understanding and encouragement from educators create an environment where he can flourish both as a student and an athlete.

"I like to try to keep things the same when it comes to scheduling and how/when I do certain things,"


he shares. His relaxed approach to school and sports helps him find a middle ground, ensuring that stress never overwhelms him. Sanders’ experience exemplifies the transformative power of discipline, a skill he deems crucial for success in all aspects of life.


Sanders reflects on the bond within the cross-country team, describing it as a brotherhood. This unity extends beyond the track, creating lasting friendships that contribute to a supportive community.

“Coaches understand that academics come first,”

Winn recalls a challenging academic year, his junior football season, where the demand for AP classes intensified.


"I would try to pay attention in class and work hard to finish as much work as I could in class,”


he shares. Winn’s ability to balance both realms showcases and dedication fostered through football.


“How I balanced them as I would try to pay attention in class and work hard to finish as much work as I could in class, and then I would go to football practice.”


In terms of personal growth, Winn emphasizes that football’s lessons transcend the field.


“They allow me to be a better student and not only rely on myself but my peers and teachers as well.”
